New Self-Guided Tour Pilot Program

‘A Quick Glimpse of the Mansion’s Interiors’

While most folks want to hear the whole story, there are some who simply want a quick glimpse of the Hegeler Carus Mansion's interiors.  The Hegeler Carus Mansion is pleased to announce the pilot launch of a new tour: the Self-Guided Tour!

Beginning April 14th and running every Sunday from 1pm until 3pm, up to 40 guests at a time will be permitted to walk the Main Floor, browsing the rooms that guests of the Hegeler and Carus families would have seen...as well as the Laundry Room and Gym on the Ground Floor.

There will be a volunteer, staff member, or docent on hand to answer any questions.

The cost of the Self-Guided Tour is $10 per person and can be purchased online or at the door while tickets last.

Please note:  this is an experimental tour, and will expire at the end of June—so don't wait!

The Hegeler Carus Mansion is an 1876 Second Empire National Historic Landmark by architect W. W. Boyington and interior designer, August Fiedler, showcasing intricate parquet floors and hand-painted ceilings. The mansion played a pivotal role in industry, philosophy, publishing, and religion. The mission of the Hegeler Carus Foundation is to preserve and use the mansion and its many stories to inspire excitement and appreciation locally and globally for its heritage, architecture, and design.

The Hegeler Carus Mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 2007, a prestigious designation granted by the U.S. National Park Service. The Mansion is located at 1307 Seventh Street in LaSalle. For information about tours and services of the Mansion, visit www.hegelercarus.org
